Is Society Falling Apart? Dorothy Sayers and the Trivium Offer a Solution

Our society is crumbling. We’ve removed God from the centre, leaving a void and an identity crisis. Young people are bombarded with information but lack the skills to discern truth from falsehood. As Dorothy Sayers, author of The Lost Tools of Learning warned, we face a crisis with six key consequences:

  1. High literacy rates coupled with susceptibility to propaganda
  2. Debates, which form the basis of policy,  filled with empty, irrelevant rhetoric
  3. Writers unable to define key terms or construct coherent arguments
  4. Students lacking the ability to independently tackle new subjects
  5. A widespread inability to distinguish between scholarly work and unsubstantiated claims.
  6. A failure to connect different fields of knowledge, leading to fragmented understanding and lack of wisdom.

The culprit? Our education system’s neglect of the Trivium—the foundational arts of grammar, logic, and rhetoric. We’ve prioritized subject matter over thinking skills, leaving students ill-equipped for the complexities of the modern world. Research confirms this: graduates lack critical thinking, analytical writing, and effective communication—skills essential for success in university and beyond.

The Solution: Christian Classical Education

Christian Classical Education offers a powerful antidote. By reintroducing the Trivium and grounding learning in a Biblical worldview, it equips students to:

  • Think critically and independently
  • Articulate ideas clearly and persuasively
  • Discern truth from falsehood
  • Develop a strong moral compass
  • Connect with God and understand their place in the world

This approach is not just theoretical. Data shows that graduates of Christian Classical schools outperform their peers academically, demonstrate greater life satisfaction, and are more actively engaged in their communities.

Our School’s Mission

We’re passionate about restoring the Trivium, teaching essential life skills, fostering a connection with God, and cultivating an appreciation for the interconnectedness of all things. We’re thrilled to be at the forefront of bringing this proven educational model to Canada.

Join us on this journey to rediscover the power of true education and raise a generation equipped to transform the world!
