About Bioblitz

What’s a BioBlitz?

It’s a fun and engaging way to contribute to science while enjoying the outdoors. Simply snap photos of plants, animals, birds, insects, and any other fascinating creatures you encounter on your journey. Share your observations with us and help scientists track local biodiversity, monitor rare species, and combat invasive ones.

Enhance Your Experience:

While all you really need is your trusty camera, we recommend bringing along binoculars, magnifying glasses, and creek nets to uncover even more hidden treasures. Don’t worry if you don’t have your own – we’ve got you covered with rentals available on-site!

Challenge Accepted:

Turn your adventure into a friendly competition! Gather your friends and family and see who can spot the most unique species. Let’s celebrate the rich biodiversity that surrounds us.

A Festival of Nature:

Beyond the BioBlitz, we’re thrilled to offer a variety of exciting activities for all ages:

  • Foraging Hikes: Discover edible treasures hidden in plain sight.
  • Biodiversity-Seeking Hikes: Unearth the diverse trees, birds flora and fauna of Mount Nemo.
  • Plant-Based Cooking Demonstrations: Learn to create delicious dishes from nature’s bounty.
  • Plant-as-Medicine Stations: Explore the healing power of plants.
  • Games, Activities, and Nature-Based Crafts: Engage your creativity and connect with nature. Plant a pollinator garden, build a birdhouse and more! See the schedule for details.

Let’s make a difference together! Your participation in this BioBlitz will contribute to valuable scientific research and help protect our precious natural heritage.
